Approved Courses for College Core

In using this page to identify courses that meet College Core requirements, please note the following:

  • Not all approved courses are offered during any given semester. To find out if a particular course is available during the current or next two semesters, please use either the College Core Course search tool or the Class Search function in PAWS.
  • Topics courses may satisfy College Core requirements, but you must check very carefully to be certain that the specific topic in which you wish to enroll satisfies a particular requirement, as different topics with the same course prefix and number may not satisfy the same College Core requirements. For example, CRI 370 Topics in Criminology (Gangs in America, Past and Present) satisfies Social Change in Historical Perspectives, whereas CRI 370 Topics in Criminology (Foundations of Forgiveness and Restorative Justice) does not.
  • A single course can satisfy up to one domain and up to two civic responsibilities. Some courses satisfy a domain but no civic responsibilities and others satisfy civic responsibilities but no domain.
  • Dual majors in the Early Childhood and Elementary Department programs (Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Urban Education 5-year program, and the ECE/DHH and ECE/Special Education 5-year programs) must take a VPA course from this list.
  • A list of writing-intensive courses can be found on the Writing Program website.

Courses with Designations beyond Course Prefix

The table lists courses that satisfy College Core requirements other than those based on the course prefix (see list to the left and below).  To search all courses, including those that meet only the College Core requirements based on their course prefix, please use the College Core Course search tool.

The table indicates any domain or civic responsibility that the courses satisfy and is sortable based on the course prefix and number, course title, domain designation, and civic responsibility designation.

Topics courses (see left) are not included in this list, and only courses currently appearing in the Undergraduate Bulletin are included in the table.
