The TCNJ Campus Garden Tour & Information Fair
1:30-3:00 pm, Wednesday, Sept. 7
TCNJ Campus Garden
Immediately following the Community Learning Day keynote lecture by Will Allen, head over to the TCNJ Campus Garden to learn more about our own garden on campus, which donated more than 410 lbs of food to local food pantries in Trenton over the past year alone. Tour the grounds of the garden to observe the plants, learn about harvesting, and become familiar with this great campus resource. Representatives from the Mercer Street Friends Food Bank, the TCNJ Environmental Club, the Veg Life Club, the President’s Committee on Climate Change, and more will be present to answer any questions you have about these organizations and efforts related to food justice and community gardening.
Panel: Food Security in New Jersey
3:00-4:30pm, Wednesday Sept. 7th
TCNJ Spiritual Center
On Community Learning Day join us for a panel that will provide an opportunity for our campus community to engage with individuals who are at the center of food security in New Jersey. Panelists will come from the Mercer Street Friends Food Bank; Isles, a Trenton-based non-profit organization dedicated to fostering self-reliant families and healthy sustainable communities; and others involved in food security efforts in the region. This panel is the first of many campus wide events to promote conversation about this year’s theme: Toward Just and Sustainable Communities. Please check the CICPC webpage and campus calendar for future events.
